I wanted to establish a pastel, soft colour scheme for the empty space that Poi inhabits before going on his quest. At first, the background colour was white but it ended up looking quite harsh, so I think a pale yellow compliments the character's palette. I also want to avoid using black in general, so outlines will just be darker versions of the fill colours. The peach actually took a while to make, and it was difficult to decide if everything should be flat or shaded, and I finally decided the peach will have shading while most other things will be flat. Poi's hair was also interesting to figure out, since I don't want him to be quite human, and so I went with like a thicker goopy vibe. Overall I'm trying to think of timing and pauses and how they can accentuate movement and character.
