My short stop-motion film is based around themes of the natural and artificial. The set and characters are made out of natural materials, such as moss, dried up plants and fruit, as well as wax. The loose plot and style are reminiscent of old children’s stop-motion TV series, with an eerie sense of nostalgia. My aim was to use stop motion as a platform in which to use natural elements in an “unnatural”, human-made media setting; manipulating rather than documenting them, in order to make them imitate some kind of new composite, unsettling and artificial life form.
